This is one of the “Stuff That Makes Miss Heather Happy” files: Elmhurst’s very own Oswaldo Gomez (usually known as Ms. Colombia) making an appearance at this year’s Mermaid Parade! Now this is in and of itself awesome. But what makes this photo (which UrbanPhotoz was kind enough to let me post) extra super special is Oswaldo was hospitalized not terribly long ago. It’s great to see she’s back and as happy as ever!

Oswaldo Gomez, the self-appointed “Queen of Queens” has been spotted all over NYC, never without his trusted parrot and not pictured, his little poodle. Both of these creatures are just as colorful as he is, and although this picture was taken in Coney Island, he resides in Jackson Heights, Queens.
I honestly cannot believe I missed this item before— so here it is! Thanks again, SeanieDawg!

As some of you might recall I featured a photograph of this lass earlier this year. It was taken by none other than the immensely talented (and very nice) Steven R. Hazlett in Chelsea. So you can imagine my delight, dear readers, when I stumbled upon “Lady Gaga’s Grandmother” (also known as Oswaldo Gomez) herself today on Roosevelt Avenue in Jackson Heights! I found this guy today in Chelsea. He claimed to be Lady Gaga’s grandmother… lol yeah, grandmother. He had the greatest aura to him, surrounded by good vibes.
