This was taken in the late 70s/early 80s, right?
If today, May 28th 2012, qualifies as such the answer is yes. I’m guessing two things are at play here:
1. Someone from “the zombie crawl” thought it would be funny to knock this receptacle over, thus spilling its contents on the street. (Alternative scenario: someone hit it with his/her car.)
2. This receptacle was fuller than usual due to cutbacks on trash pick-up.
Regardless of the cause, this is unacceptable.
I think it has to do with the fact it’s Memorial Day. All the trash cans up by me in Barge Park and Greenpoint Playground were overflowing too.
They suspended pick-up for Monday (since it was a holiday). Mind you, this is on top of no longer picking up on weekends.
