Hipster: The Rock Band

Yesterday afternoon as I walked down Bedford Avenue I realized that the term “hipster” has indeed eaten itself. Once an epithet used by the unimaginative towards affluent 20-somethings, it has since become the nom de guerre for musical entertainers. Entertainers, who in all probability entertain hipsters. Oh, the irony.

For a mere six bucks you can see “Picked Clean By Hipsters” and the up and coming rock-n-roll juggernaut “Manboob”.

For those of you who are less patient, more anarchistic or simply cannot afford to shell out six bucks, the “Reagan Youth”, “Leftover Crack” and “Star F*cking Hipsters” will be playing for free this weekend at Tompkins Square Park.

Unrelated to the hipster point…Reagan Youth was such a great band….too bad the original singer (Dave Insurgent R.I.P) has been dead for at least 10 years…the rest of the band is maybe one original member…Nihilistics don’t have original members either but i think the original singer…but should be a good show, i think i’m gonna go. If only to see APPLE and the False Prophets…Stephan from the False Prophets used to roam NYC with HALF a Hitler mostauche and a crazy cane with a skulll on it, always good for theatrics…Thanks for the headsup. Carroll Gardens don’t have those types of fliers!

Reagan Youth, Nihilistics, and False Prophets are bands from my youth and I’m old! Plus, Dave Insurgent is dead so I don’t even know how Reagan Youth can still be calling themselves that.
