New York Shitty Day Ender: Saltie?
Today as I was hustling to the G train I was pleasantly surprised to notice the former location of Cheeks Bakery did not languish as a vacant storefront for long. Goodbye Cheeks, hello Saltie! Does anyone reading this have the 411 regarding the latter? If so, please leave them in the comments section or email me at: missheather (at) thatgreenpointblog (dot) com. Thanks!
Closing on a (semi) related note it would appear that N6 is gone and “Pinkerton Wine Bar” aspires to take its place.
I wonder if the Pinkertons* encountered the same resistance as their not-so-distant neighbor, Custom, did last month? I suppose we’ll find out soon enough.
Miss Heather
*It should be noted Pinkerton National Detective Agency and Pinkerton Wine Bar are not related. But given the previous’s checkered history I find this name— for a wine bar, no less— interesting to say the least.

From Eater:
Saltie is the new daytime sandwich shop/bakery opening in the old Cheeks space on Friday. Run by Caroline Fidanza, the chef at Diner for a decade, it’s a minuscule little spot with no beer, no wine, and no bathroom. But chance are she’ll be serving up some killer snacks, a welcome addition to that strip of Metropolitan.

I sampled some of Saltie’s baked goods during their debut at The New Amsterdam Market in the Seaport on Sunday. We have a lot to look forward to!
I can promise that Saltie will be serving yummy treats having tried a few over the weekend. I believe Saltie opens on Friday.
