Brooklyn: The Party Is Officially Over
This evening I received a most disturbing email from a reader and frequent commenter, Rexlic. He writes:
Like the hippies who carried a coffin through the streets of Haight-Ashbury in the fall of ’67 to mark the “The Death of the Hippie,” we can now mark the death of NYC, as hipster/huppie/yupster/yunnie/bobo life reaches critical mass outside Manhattan.
What precipitated this ominous statement you ask? Well, in a nutshell, this.
When one finds fliers like this in Crown Heights you know the fat log lady has indeed sung in our fine borough. Don’t take my word for it: point and click you way over to Trip In Brooklyn and read for yourself. The horror.

i didn’t know hipsters were into the log lady. aren’t most of them too young to know who she is?
and not that i’m obsessed with my mom, but she is pretty unhip, and lives in a town entirely devoid of hipsters, but she’d be psyched to see this flier and she’d totally consider posing. and she’s 66!
By all means get her down there, al oof!
The only logs I am into are of the canine variety: dog logs. Even so, I am not going to carry one. I am perfectly content photographing them, thank you very much. 😉
I feel big time now that Miss Heather has discoverered my flyer. All should come to discover their own inner log lady…even the hipsters, the log will share it’s wisdom with all. And take home a super fancy glossy digital print.
“My log has something to tell you. Do you know him?…. My log requires no introduction. Can you hear it?…. I will translate.’Deliver the message.’ Do you understand?”
The log lady is calling:
Saturday 2/23 & Sunday 2/24, 10a. – 6p.
Franklin Ave. C stop
On the corner of Franklin, between Fulton & Atlantic
i used to live near the Franklin Ave C stop. pardon for correcting, but i believe that area is Bed-Stuy, not Crown Heights. Twin Peaks was great and the Log Lady was one of the reasons.
