New York Shitty Day Starter: Alas, Saint Nick…
I knew him well.
When I encountered this, Santa Claus in a shopping cart, on Driggs Avenue I had to take a photograph of it. The porter of said building was as perplexed and amused as I was. He encouraged me to take St. Nick home. I told him taking Santa home in a shopping cart would be a schlep to Greenpoint.
Perhaps Santa’s new sleigh could be pulled by rats or stray cats?
I suggested. He laughed. And we both agreed the holidays suck.

Southside Degentrification Watch: Street Furniture Selections
Today I decided to take a walk to Grand Ferry Park. I do this when I need some peace and quiet (and believe you me, after all the Greenpoint Nazi/homophobia stuff I really needed it). In so doing I discovered some stellar pieces of street furniture. Here they are.
RIVER STREET RECLINERS
On a beatific day such as this, who wants to stay outdoors? Pop out those bucket seats and get some sun! Ingenious.
KENT AVENUE FUTON
I found this one to be absolutely breathtaking. This is because it smelled so fucking bad I was gasping for air! And now the piece de resistance…
SOUTH 1 STREET: ANNOTATED
If my memory serves me correctly this mattress has inhabited South 1st Street for about a month. Note the “No Dumping” sign in the background. So it goes. Anyhoo, in the elapsing time this item has been employed as an ad hoc public forum/chatroom.
Sleep’n on the street. Struglin.
Bedbuggin’ out!

*Speaking of which, I spied a Kiss Army/Clockwork Orangesque fashion statement on said piece of public transportation today.
I have to confess: I sort of like this. I wanted to ask this woman what gives but she in deep thought (writing in a journal) and I didn’t want to interrupt her out of common courtesy. I hate it when people interrupt my train (or bus) of thought.
