From The New York Shitty Inbox: Halloween Costume Contest At The Habitat!
Nicole, the fabulous head honcha of the Habitat, writes:
Hi Heather!
Just wanted to pass along our flyer for Halloween this weekend, if you’re interested in posting on your site. We are having a costume contest throughout the night, judging happens at midnight with a $100 cash prize for best costume! This year we went with a video game theme. Customers are not required to dress for the theme but our staff does so it kind of all goes together. Anyway, I attached some pics of the installation we did on Monday so you could see what I’m referring to. Pretty fun stuff!
Very nice, indeed!

From The New York Shitty Inbox, Part II: 4th Annual Wing Eating Contest
Since I have been long remiss in posting this (and the deadline will soon be upon us). Nicole, the fabulous lass who presides over The Habitat, writes:
Hi Heather!
Hope your summer has been going well thus far! Just wanted to pass along info regarding our Annual Wing Eating Contest (and yes, its as gross as it sounds!*):
The contest will be taking place on Tuesday August 30th at 10pm. 12 contestants will be competing to see who can eat the most wings in 10 minutes. The winner will be awarded $100 cash and trophy. The reigning two-time champion, Will Millender will be defending his title of 43 wings (the previous year he won by eating 48). Note: contestants do not have to eat 43 wings to win; they simply must eat more than the other contestants. Interested candidates should submit their names to the bar (limit one entry). We will be selecting contestants via random drawing on August 22nd (one week prior to the event). There is a $5 entry fee for participants; all will receive a complimentary t-shirt. The event takes place during our weekly .35 wing night (the special will be available throughout the night of the event).
Thanks as always!
Good luck, Greenpointers/carnivores!

That’s right, folks. This upcoming Sunday the Habitat will be hosting its Third Annual Chili Cook Off! Given we are set to get yet more snow, the timing could not be more fortuitous. Check it out!

FRIDAY: Beer For Breakfast!
This item comes courtesy of the folks at The Habitat. Nicole writes:
I realize this might be last minute but I wanted to send you some information regarding an art opening we are hosting this Friday night June 11th. We are collaborating with our upstairs neighbors, The Cee Flat Gallery, to display the works of Nicholas Hartman. Nicholas is coincidentally our graphic designer who creates all of our promotional posters and advertisements (he has basically been instrumental in creating our brand). He is also a talented screenprinter and painter and the theme of his solo show is, ironically, beer and Brooklyn. We will be showing his prints in the bar (in a repetitive street art type design) and the Cee Flat will be exhibiting other screenprints as well as larger scale paintings. This is actually our first art opening, but we are using this show to promote both our venues for future local art events. The event begins at 6pm with complimentary beer, wine, and food at The Cee Flat. The party continues all night at The Habitat with $3 Brooklyn Drafts and $1 Empanadas…
This sound like a pretty nifty way to kick off the weekend if I say so myself. Check it out!

From The New York Shitty Inbox: Service Advisory
Charles Vestal (who sent me the above image) opines:
The news here isn’t really so much that the Habitat is not serving brunch in a few weekends (though it is the most delicious brunch in the hood I’ve found), but that transportation outages have become such a common sight, that a local gastropub can use them to play off their business hours changing. Cute! And sad.
Look at this way, Charles: at least they aren’t inflicting shuttle buses on the general public in the dead of winter!

Happy Halloween From New York Shitty!
This delightfully demonic clown hails from Greenpoint’s very own Habitat. This establishment, as I have already mentioned, will be hosting a “Freak Show” starting at sunset tonight! Those of you who are intrigued by (or simply need a refresher about) this event can learn more by clicking here.
Happy haunting!
