New York Shitty Day Ender: Al Fresco Living

sectional

Given the recent cognitive dissonance “controversy” over the so-called “shelter” on Milton Street, I felt a reminder of what the alternative has long been for Greenpoint’s homeless community was in order. Granted, this living room suite is located in East Williamsburg (if one cares/dares to tread further east there he/she will find a homeless colony), but you get the idea.

This post is dedicated to Ann and Jen of the Greenpoint Reformed Church and the manifold number of people— and there were/are many— who worked to ensure that ten of our neediest will have a safe, warm place to sleep on this cold winter night. Thank you!

It’s not often one sees a PEP officer, much less a SUV full of them, in our fair burgh. Thus I had to document this spotting for posterity. As you can see they were more than happy to oblige this photo op. On a related (and decidedly “down” note), apparently an armed robbery recently came to pass at McCarren Park. You can get the run-down by clicking here.

That’s right folks: per this flyer this upcoming Saturday, August 25th, the Nassau Avenue Block Association along with our City Councilman, Steve Levin*, will be hosting their annual block party on Morgan Avenue between Nassau Avenue and Driggs Avenue. Note the small text: any/all motorists must move their cars by 9:00 a.m.— so plan accordingly!

*Who gets big props for clarifying the location of this event. Thanks!

Spotted On Morgan Avenue: Something Awesome!

Those of you who want to see something seriously wonderful should swing by 500 Morgan Avenue.

There you will find a bevy of very cute “bugs”— and this pup who presides over them. Check ’em out!
