Greenpoint Photos Du Jour: McGuinness Boulevard
If this photograph seems eerily familiar to you, dear readers, it is because I took a similar such shot June 11, 2009. Butt today’s bit of McGuinness goodness has a twist.
The truck is empty.
Stupid.
McGuinness Boulevard (or Mickey G’s as I affectionately call it) is as McGuinness does.

MTA Photo Du Jour: A B62 PSA
Who knew McGuinness Boulevard was so fashion conscious? I guess that’s Greenpoint gentrification for you.

This public service announcement hails from the intersection of Nassau Avenue and McGuinness Boulevard and comes courtesy of Jay Lombard. Nice find!

Long Island City Photo Du Jour: Pulaski Bridge
I have always believed successful public art should engage the public. Taking the previous into account— albeit in the most broadest sense— I’d say the mural on the Pulaski Bridge is a smashing success!*

*In all seriousness: how could the peeps at the DOT and the artist responsible for this opus not know this would invariably invite a priapism? Placing a man behind a woman is second only in my unwritten “Do not do leave to the caprice/rancor of the public” rulebook to why subway posters should never, EVER, feature anything— human, humanoid, mammalian, reptilian or otherwise with his/her/its mouth open.
Spotted at Lofts 305: Department of Homeland Security
There are very few things which make stop dead in my tracks. Vehicles belonging to the Department of Homeland Security’s Explosion Detection team are among them. I found the above vehicle parked squarely in front of the entrance of Lofts 305 at 11:30 a.m. this morning. After I got over the initial “wtf” factor I asked a couple of contractors working nearby what gives. They told this chap was simply buying some lunch. This, of course, does not answer why this vehicle is here in the first place— but I decided not to push my luck. As far as Lofts 305 is concerned, I do not rule anything out of the realm of possibility.

New York Shitty Day Starter: Got Christmas?
This delightful juxtaposition comes from where many a piece of Greenpoint glory is to be found: the intersection of Greenpoint Avenue and McGuinness Boulevard. Ho! Ho! Ho!
