From The New York Shitty Inbox: A Question About Christmas Lights
Have you seen the giant snowflakes adorning Manhattan Ave and Franklin St? They’re wonderful! I’m curious who funded this. Do you know if it is perhaps a contribution of the Greenpoint Business Alliance? I’m all about it, whoever is in charge.
Anyone have the 411 on who is responsible for this? If so, please share via comments. I too am very curious about this!

Contrary to what some might think yours truly exercises some semblance of ethics when photographing people on the street. It is neither my purpose nor my desire to laugh at people. Which brings me to this.
I cannot tell a lie: I had a lot of trouble suppressing a chuckle.
But given the rather, um, copious notices I spied when exiting the Crosstown Local at India Street this afternoon can you blame a man (or woman) for being dazed and confused— or dare I say: possibly a wee bit pissed off— by our mass transit system? This is the real Greenpoint, folks— and don’t you forget it!
Fortunately there are intrepid souls who see fit— quite literally— to cut the crap.
CASE IN POINT: the Spring Street station in SoHo.*

*Yes, that is a pile of human feces peeking out from under this flier-cum-asswipe.
Opening This Week: Eastern District
After working on this space for seemingly an eternity today I discovered that Eastern District is (finally) set to open this upcoming Tuesday, November 30th. What can you expect? Well, the following photograph I shot might give you some indication!
An eagle-eyed passerby pointed out to me that the shelf at the far right sports “pickle chips”. He says this culinary item is (and I quote):
Very good.
There’s some food for thought for you until Tuesday!

It is a well known fact that Larry (as seen at left) is without argument Greenpoint’s most famous the bodega cat. He likes to get around. While this usually entails keeping a particularly vigilant eye (or would that be paw?) over the canines which patronize his place of work and play (that being A. J. Farms) he has a horde of furry friends. In fact, if you look carefully on the left hand side of the counter at this establishment you will see a photo of him hanging out with a few of his homies. But did you know a particularly fetching feline hereabouts has become his regular breakfast date? I didn’t. It was put to me this way:
He comes in every morning, eats some of her food and sits with her. They cannot “do” anything*… but they like each other!

Happy Thanksgiving From New York Shitty!
As you can imagine today’s selections will be most decidedly lite. However, I would like to bring it to everyone’s attention that Pablo Airaldi and a number of his fellow inmates at the Hudson County Detention Center have gone on hunger strike. You can follow how he is doing (and get the date and location for his upcoming hearing) via this web site.
