UPDATE, 7:07 p.m.: Here’s a(nother) shot of Greenpoint’s beloved bodega cat, Larry!
As you can see he is loved by his co-worker, Neer.

Oreo has come a long way since I have last written about him. Not only has he been neutered but now he sports a clean bill of health and keeps a careful watch over his place of business and pleasure: Pets on the Run!
Anyone interested in adopting this handsome (and hard-working) gent should swing by and talk to Zohar or Malik.

Spotted In Greenpoint: Greenpoint T-Shirts
Some of you might recall my post from earlier this week announcing the good news about electric-powered socks. For those of you who don’t, these can be had at Cato’s Army Navy Store (as seen at left) for the (admittedly) handsome sum of $29.95. The Mister (who has in fact owned a pair) attests they work quite well. Perhaps even a little too well. But I digress.
Today we hit Cato’s on the way home from running errands and I have some very good news for any and all who have been in search of Greenpoint t-shirts.
They’ve got ’em. Don’t let the above drab design fool you. I learned from the proprietor there was some mix-up with the screenprinter. What they wanted—and in fact have in stock, you need only ask to see them— is this.
This shirt is available in black, white and olive drab (as seen above). They’re very easy on the wallet at a mere $12.95 a pop! At this time these shirts are only available in men’s sizes small – XX large, but I have been told they will start selling boy’s sizes (which are much more petite/lady friendly) this spring.
Check it out!

LAST GASP: Do Electric Socks Sheathe Robotic Feet?
Today I found a most interesting item advertised in the window of Cato’s Army Navy Store: battery-operated socks.
I am a big fan of Cato’s. Who cannot help but love an establishment which proudly advertises that they have women’s camouflage t-shirts in stock? Needless to say I went inside and inquired about said socks.
Me: I noticed you have battery-operated socks. May I see them?
Saleslady: They’re there.
Me: Where?
Saleslady: Right in front of you.
And so they were. A men’s size large, to be exact.
Do you have these in a smaller size?
I inquired.
Younger saleslady: We have them in medium. That comes out to a women’s size 10 1/2 – 12.
Me: That’s way too big. I’m a 6- 6 1/2…
Both salesladies concur: You need an extra small.
Me: Methinks my husband is a size 9 or 10. I’ll buy the medium size.
Both salesladies: Let us know how they work, no one has bought them yet.
Me: Oh, I will. I want him to test them out on him before I buy a pair.
(knowing laughter)
I thought I had a real pisser to hit the Mister with this evening. $29.95 is a small price to pay for such merriment. I employed my usual tactic: I hit him minutes after he came home from work. It backfired. Miserably.
Me: I found something very interesting at Cato’s Army Navy Store.
The Mister: ???
Me: Battery-powered socks.
I’ve had these! They work great! In fact, they work so well you have to wear another pair of socks under them so you won’t burn your feet!
So there’s your product review per the Mister himself. If you’re in need of Lectra Sox head to Cato’s. Tell ’em Miss Mister Heather sent you.

Greenpoint Babka Watch: Jubilatka Is Back!
After all the rather grim news I have relayed the last few days I thought a little good news might be in order. When the Mister and I saw the brown paper go up at 940 Manhattan Avenue we expected the worst. Rest easy fellow Greenpointers, your babka needs are in very good (and improved) hands!
It’s a beautiful day in “Little Poland”!
