When I initially saw the above tableau this morning on Leonard Street I could not help but chuckle. Then I noticed this little fellow’s hands and feet were bound and became somewhat alarmed. Upon deducing the lady of the house was on the premises, I asked her what gives.

They’re taking him home.

She said smiling. Given the expression on this chap’s face I suspect a rather sinister fate awaits him.

Great Moments In Abjectecture: 333 Leonard Street

333 Leonard Street 2

Since the real estate market more or less tanked in north Brooklyn yours truly figured she would not be seeing anything new in the way of aesthetically bankrupt construction any time soon. Needless to say when I saw the above specimen (333 Leonard Street) today I figured it wasn’t anything special. Just another piece of Bloomblight. It was when I looked around the corner I discovered the error of my ways: this edifice is truly something to behold. Without further ado here are some highlights. Enjoy!

I’ll be perfectly frank: I was absolutely dumbstruck that this was a gut renovation so upon arriving back home I did a little poking around the Department of Building’s web site.

Sure enough, it is. The wonders never cease!

Our streets may have been plowed and the manifold number of abandoned buses removed but problems posed by heavy snowfall persist. Onray writes:

It would seem to me that if this city wanted to generate a little revenue they would start issuing citations. In the meantime those who have problems should contact his/her City Councilman (in this case, Steve Levin: slevin (at) council (dot) nyc (dot) gov). Someone I know did just this. Not only did she receive a call from Mr. Levin himself but her street was cleared shortly thereafter.

Those of you who have elected to spend this Christmas Day in the Garden Spot and are looking for something to do should swing over to Leonard Street between Calyer Street and Meserole Avenue. That is where you will find this curiosity. It is located on the west side of the street next door the one that started it all!

When I see something such as this two things come to my mind:

  1. Wow, things must really be bad if someone has been reduced to stealing garbage bags.
  2. Clearly the author of this missive has never tried to file a stolen property report at the 94th Precinct.
