Greenpoint Halloween Watch: Vodka
While not as extensive as other Halloweeniana I have featured here thus far, this tableau (which hails from Z & J Wine and Liquor) tickled my funny bone. If you look very carefully you’ll notice a bottle of Sobieski vodka has been placed in the skull’s mouth. Nice.
In closing, dear readers, something closely resembling the sun appears to be in the sky. Methinks I will go out for a while and reacquaint myself with it! More to come later today.

Greenpoint Halloween Watch: Looking Good On Russell Street
Yesterday I shared the good news about 648 Humboldt Street’s Halloween decoration extravaganza. Today I will give equal time to their neighbor (and friendly competitor): 97 Russell Street.
At long last my itch for demonic clowns has been scratched!
Impressive.
Abandon all hope ye who enter here!
NOTE: this butcher knife wielding gentleman is wearing a NYC Department of Corrections ball cap. I found this to be a tremendously amusing touch. When asked by the owner of this house why I found this so entertaining I couldn’t muster a satisfactory answer. I just do.
The headless horseman is on the synthesizer.
Satan himself is twinkling the ivories.
A ghostly quartet provides the chorus.
And a good time was had by all— even the rats got into the act!
I want to give a New York Shitty shout-out of gratitude to the folks at 97 Russell Street for making Halloween a little more fun for all of us. Thanks guys, gals… and ghouls!

Greenpoint Video du Jour: Daily Dose of Shadenfreude
648 Humboldt Street* is looking pretty good nowadays…
and by good I mean bad! Little refinements over last year’s opus (such as the inspired addition of a very 11222 stroller mom, as seen above) are not only literally stopping traffic, but as you will see it made one little girl run away shrieking. Enjoy!
I will be uploading more Halloween goodness a little later so stay tuned!

East Williamsburg Halloween Watch: Haunted on Hewes Street
Filed under: 11206, East Williamsburg, East Williamsburg Brooklyn, Williamsburg, Williamsburg Brooklyn
I have been woefully remiss in posting some Halloween goodness from my friends to the south. Today I will redress this egregious oversight with some ghoulishly great decor courtesy of 363 Hewes Street. Enjoy!
I give this chap two enthusiastic (and blood soaked) daggers up!

From The New York Shitty Inbox: Haunted on North Henry?
Vin writes:
Miss Heather,
There is another creepy looking Halloween house at 216 North Henry Street in Greenpoint between Norman and Nassau. Might be Real!!
Today I finally had a opportunity to swing by and see 216 North Henry in person. I was not disappointed.
Recycle. Or else!
Thanks for the tip, Vin. Your fabulous find made my day! I will be posting more Halloween goodness from the Garden Spot later this evening, so stay tuned!

Greenpoint Halloween Watch: Fun On Freeman
Filed under: 11206, 11211, 11222, 11237, Greenpoint, Greenpoint Brooklyn, Greenpoint Magic
Since today was slightly less abysmal than yesterday weather-wise I decided to stroll around the upper-alphabets (READ: Ash through Freeman Street). It was on Freeman between Franklin and West that I found a most spooky house!
Abandon all hope, ye who enter here!
Beware!
I suppose it goes without saying that Halloween is yours truly’s favorite holiday. It would appear to be a favorite of my fellow Garden Spotters as well: without argument some of the finest Halloween decor I have seen in this fair city hails from the 11222 zip code. If any of you, dear readers, stumble upon a Halloween house extraordinaire in the greater Williamspoint or Greenwick area I would be very grateful if you would share them with me (so I, in turn, can share them with our fellow north Brooklynites). Please send your sightings to:

Be sure to include an address and/or intersection.
Thanks!
