P.S.: Those of you who are interested in doing a little “exploration” in the name of freedom will be pleased to know The Thing still has a fine selection of accessories for infants of all ages.
Yes, that’s “My Little Pony”.

There is a pot hole at the intersection of Engert Avenue and Russell Street…
…and it’s a rather sizable one at that.
Then again, perhaps this isn’t a pot hole? Maybe it is a cryptically marked portal to let the Morlocks out? Who knows? In any event it is probably best avoided. Consider yourselves warned fellow Greenpointers.

This wonderful image (which hails from our very own Newtown Creek Nature Walk!) is better appreciated in a larger format than the constraints of my humble web site will allow. It comes courtesy of Aonghais McInnes who, I feel compelled to mention, is an absolutely amazing photographer. Do give his Flickr page a look-see. It is well worth the time!

TODAY: NAG Town Hall Meeting
This item was brought to my attention by my buddy over at Brooklyn11211. Among the items to be discussed at this meeting will be their North Brooklyn Story Project which, as it would happen, is still taking volunteers. Why not take some time out of your evening tonight and learn more about what NAG is cooking up for our community?

I can only hope the “Seedballs” project will be brought to the table. I realize this is sophomoric but I cannot read, much less write, this word without giggling like a school girl. Good times.

Crosstown Local Photo Du Jour: Greenpoint Avenue
The Crosstown Local (otherwise known as the G) on any given day has a lot of angry passengers. Sometimes they their frustration by defacing subway posters. In this case the Metropolitan College of New York was the target of their ire.
Thankfully we also have copy editors.

Found In Greenpoint: Lifetime Achievement Award
Filed under: Greenpoint Magic
Rebecca11222 (who contributed the following bit of Greenpoint goodness) writes (in an email entitled Found in the shrubbery at the triangle intersection of Calyer, Banker, Franklin):
WTF?
If you are reading out there, Sidney “12 Angry Men /Serpico*“ Lumet**, Rebecca11222 has retrieved your Lifetime Achievement Award from the Savannah College of Art and Design (and a certain fate of being pissed, vomited and shat upon by creatures two, three and four legged alike***— there’s no accounting for taste in this town). It resides in the cozy comfort in her apartment and she will be more than happy to return it to you. Totally free of cost.
Sidney Lumet, STAND UP PLEASE.

Public Service Announcement: Brouwerij Lane Hits Cyberspace!
Yesterday afternoon I found a most wonderful and welcome missive awaiting my perusal. It was from Erik Olsen of Brouwerij Lane and read as follows:
Ed Raven and I want to thank everyone who showed up for the beer and goulash party on Saturday. We had people lined up out the door and little standing room. We went through all of the Viennese goulash and a tremendous amount of tap beer. (! — Ed. Note) We consider it a warm welcoming to the neighborhood, and look forward to seeing all of you in the future.
As promised, I have established a web page to keep up to date info, future events and a current tap list for growler fillin’…
You read that right folks: these fine chaps have harnessed the power of the Internet so all you sud lovers can learn what beers will be on tap at Brouwerij Lane on any given day! Will the wonders ever cease?
My advice: add this site to your RSS feed. NOW.
