UPDATE, July 22nd 1:32 PM: It would appear that Gothamist and the New York Daily News have jumped on the band wagon. So to speak. I have been assured by Ms. Carlson the Gothamist article will be amended so as to reflect the true sources. This leaves the latter. It would appear after a visit and thorough inspection courtesy of New York’s Bravest*, the Salvation Army is closed until further notice. UPDATE, 3:41 pm: word on the street is the Salvation Army’s space experienced flooding. Once this is remediated they will reopen. We’ll see…
*It is my understanding that 977 Manhattan Avenue was inspected as well. Why does this stuff always happen while I am on vacation?
