I for one am particularly fond of Teddy’s “new” jacket. Very nice! (Previously.)

These have been popping up all over the neighborhood of late. I myself have amassed three works by Dave Smith— whose web site you can see here!

A fellow named Dave writes about the above-depicted fellow:

Miss Heather –

My neighbors found this little guy in front of the 7-11 on Manhattan Ave late Saturday night alone and crying.  Very friendly.

I recently emailed you about another cat entirely (turned out to be my neighbor’s cat who had escaped onto the fire escape).  I did get some responses as a result of your post however, and have reached out to them to see if they might be interested in fostering.  So far no luck.  In any case, hoping to reunite a family or find a temporary home.  If i didn’t already have two of my own fellas I would happily take this guy on myself.

Much thanks,

Dave

as an aside – I was walking home along Manhattan Ave on Saturday night, and popped into the deli on the corner of Manhattan and Nassau.  As I was inside, a bus screeched to a halt outside.  The driver jumped out of the bus, ran into the deli and loudly asked the purveyor – “Hey, you got Mentos?”

If anyone knows to whom this fellow belongs— or would like to provide this fellow the forever home he richly deserves— please contact Dave via email at dmblenk (at) gmail (dot) com

Otherwise, thank you Dave for the Mentos anecdote. That made my day!

Not only did Greenpoint Avenue’s “teddy” survive last night’s rather frightful rain and wind— but he appears to have acquired a glove! As it would happen I recently met the porter of this building. This very sweet chap told me he had no idea from hence this furry fellow came. He simply came out one morning, and lo, there he was. He likes him so much (he especially pleased when some merry hooligan one placed a sign reading “Crime Doesn’t Pay” is his mitts) he has decided to let him stay. However, be advised I was warned he may start charging me $1.00 per photo moving forward. Sounds like this fella has him an agent!

P.S./UPDATE: I would be remiss if I did not point out that this fellow seems to be a big hit with parents taking their children to nearby WNYC Transmitter Park. I myself watched a father stop his stroller so his young ‘un could say “Hi” to the teddy bear. When they commenced to leave he told his son they would stop by on the way back. I have also been told by another Greenpoint parents that she takes her son by so he can tell “Teddy” about his day. Methinks I am going to start doing this and encourage everyone reading this tome to follow suit…

i’m attaching a pic of a cute little guy that showed up at my windowsill a little while ago.  he’s in my kitchen now, segregated from my other 2 guys in the living room.  the situation is tense.

he’s got a collar but no name.  just a Chicago anti-cruelty Society # 312.644.8338.  no clipped ears and pretty friendly i hope he’s just lost.i live at the corner of manhattan ave and greenpoint ave.  heavy traffic.

As this find— upon which yours truly stumbled Greenpoint Avenue today— attests one never knows where the Porn Fairy will ply his/her trade next!

CASE IN POINT: “Busty Island Girls” (which inexplicably is missing a listing on IMDb). Sometimes it actually pays to check out those ostensibly abandoned/empty envelopes folks…
