Brooklyn Back In The Day: Greetings From 1950’s Ft. Greene
Filed under: Ft. Greene
Earlier this week I posted the above photo and asked you to identify where it was taken. Two people posted answers and both were correct: Ft. Greene Park.
Today I will kick off the weekend with a few more goodies from my latest acquisition of old Brooklyn shots. The details are scant as to who this family was but the husband’s name was Al and his wife was named Julie. Al was a Technical Corporal in the army during World War II and they in all probability lived in the Ft. Greene Houses. By all appearances they are a loving, happy and prosperous family and will undoubtedly give you a smile this Friday afternoon. Enjoy!
Looking dapper in front of the Ft. Greene Houses.
Striking a pose in front of mom’s vanity.
A group hug in front of the Prison Ship Martyr’s Monument.
A more serious family portrait.
Time for a trip to Grandma’s house!
Blow out the candle!
Merry Christmas from Ft. Greene!
A microscope!
I’m going to go out on a limb here and say that a helicopter is not what this child wanted for Christmas.
