Greenpoint Photos Du Jour: Dupont Street
As some of you have probably deduced I am rather fond of this house (which is located a stone’s throw from Franklin Street). Being a lover of all things quirky and brightly colored it appeals to me. Yesterday I finally met the incredibly nice woman behind this constantly changing menagerie. I made it clear via my limited command of Spanish that I found her handiwork very pretty. She in turn, wanted to see the photographs I took. So I showed them to her: she liked them. So much so she insisted I show them to her son. I gladly obliged.

TOMORROW: Free Sunflowers!
As some of you might recall the man behind Project Sunflower gave away free sunflowers last month. Well, I am pleased to announce he’s back and will be giving out more golden goodness tomorrow! Matt writes:
Project Sunflower is a non-profit organization that I have started with one goal in mind, to beautify all 5 boroughs. I hope to start achieving this goal by giving away sunflowers that will then in turn be planted by you wherever you feel needs a bit more color or on a plot of land that needs a bit of love. This Saturday from 11am to 12pm I will be giving away free, sprouted, mammoth sunflower plants. Come by, pick up a sunflower and grow your very own.

PSSST… Anyone Wanna Bathtub?
Since we kicked off the day with a mattress mountain I feel it is only appropriate we proceed to this curiousity from Green Street.
Originally intended for the Trump Soho Hotel?!? Well, that’s pretty spiffy. God only knows I have seen a lot of strange stuff in the Garden Spot since the real estate bubble burst, but this takes the cake: door-to-door bath tub sales.
A brave new tub for a brave new world!
141 Dupont Street too?!? This guy sure gets around.
Only in Greenpoint, folks…

New York Shitty Day Ender: House Of Sudz III
I asked a gentleman working on site when this, the most snazzy laundromat I have ever seen, was slated to open. He said in a couple of weeks. So there have you!

From The New York Shitty Inbox: Found On Dupont Street
Jay Lombard (who sent me the above photo) of Dog Habitat writes:
Heather- please post this photo. This dog was found as a stray (with choke collar) near manhattan ave and dupont a few days ago and we’ve been trying to find the owner. We heard that there was a man driving around the area looking for a lost dog, but we have no other leads or contact info. We’re hoping one of your readers will recognize this pretty, brindle female pit mix.
If you know who this handsome pup belongs to please contact the folks at Dog Habitat at 347-601-8678 asap. Thanks!

LAST GASP: Before & After
January 8, 2010
April 30, 2010
It would appear the B43 bus stop at Dupont Street has received a much-needed upgrade. Not only are the new and improved “adjustments” courtesy of an ink jet printer (versus black sharpie marker) and bilingual, but everything is weatherproofed with packing tape! NICE.

Greenpoint Slide Show Du Jour: Blizzard 2010
As promised, here is a mini slide show of highlights from my walk around north Greenpoint this morning. Enjoy!
And on that note, dear readers, I am off to prepare a little wintertime stew! You can view more nifty images of snow white Greenpoint by checking out the New York Shitty photo pool.
