Greenpoint Street Seating du Jour: 1011 Manhattan Avenue

When I saw this ad hoc arrangement of street seating this morning I simply had to document it. This, in turn, piqued the curiously of the above chap. We struck up a conversation:

I take it you got a permits to operate a sidewalk— or would that be street— cafe?*

Man (laughing):

No, I’m here to drop these off to a new coffee shop opening up here.

Me: I take it you mean at 1101 Manhattan Avenue?

He didn’t seem to know for certain, but this is the buzz I have been hearing over the last several months. If anyone out there knows the skinny on this new establishment I would love to hear from you. Please share via comments or email at missheather (at) thatgreenpointblog (dot) com. *To give credit where it is truly due, I was not the originator of this idea. That distinction goes to our Public Safety Chair who, upon my telling him about coming home to find not one— but three individuals sitting atop torn cardboard boxes drinking beer and feasting upon fried chicken on my stoop (a Garden Spot party!), advised me to apply for such a permit and a liquor license. He’s a true visionary/entrepreneur, this guy.
