Urban Fur: Chinatown Edition
I did not get the name of the magnificent beast (which hails from Chrystie Street). Neither he nor his keepers seemed very interested in talking to me. No worries, this 20+ pounder was busy keeping a vigilant watch over his domain!

New York Shitty Day Ender: Lost & Found In Translation
From Mott Street, Manhattan
This (which hails from the Canal Street stop of the 6 train in Manhattan) is bona fide proof that New York City is still an international city— if not in subway service, at least in anger directed at lack of said subway service. Only the MTA could make this kind of racial/ethnic unity (albeit while employing profanity) happen. Mazel tov!
The use of sarcastic quotation marks is a nice touch.

P.S.: Can anyone give me a translation of the Chinese annotation on this flier? My curiousity is driving me crazy.
LAST GASP: From The New York Shitty Photo Pool
Okay, I said I was signing off earlier. Then I saw this lovely photo by the incredibly talented (and it should be noted, fellow Greenpointer) Victoria Belanger. Not only does this image hail from one of my favorite non-Brooklyn places (Chinatown) but it showcases one of favorite storefronts EVER: Nam Wah Tea Parlor on Doyers Street! Needless to say I had to share it STAT.
See y’all tomorrow.

Manhattan Photos Du Jour: Day Trip Diary
As I have mentioned previously the Mister has taken two weeks vacation. Yesterday we went to the birthplace of Theodore Roosevelt. This is not my idea of how to celebrate one’s birthday but then again it wasn’t my birthday that was being celebrated. Anyhoo, afterward we proceeded to walk to Chinatown. Follows is a slide show featuring some highlights from our walk. Enjoy!
Anybody out there know who this guy is? I ask because finding myself between him and a horde of very excited teenage girls (and one older gentleman wearing bermuda shorts) was mildly terrifying.

If anyone from this establishment (which is located at 20 Henry Street in Chinatown) is reading this: you might want to do a little word smithing on this advertisement.
