Spotted At Father Jerzy Popieluszko Square: Snow Removal

I know, it seems incredible but I’ll swear on a stack of Bibles/Talmuds/Korans/Telephone Phone Books— whatever you want— it’s true! Better yet, why not watch for yourself. Seeing is believing!
Perhaps when our Parks Person is done lavishing a little love on Bedford Avenue she could send this guy over to the American Playground? It’s a mess.
But this is not to suggest there isn’t humor to be found here: there most assuredly is! Many of you might recall a portion of this playground has been vacated by the Department of Buildings due to falling debris from an adjacent building. To this end (and in the interest of public safety) a barricade has been put in place. For those of you who are wondering: as of today it is still there.*
The owner of 49 Noble Street (the property in question) may be taking his sweet time to address his decaying building…
but at least he has seen fit to clean his sidewalk! This begs the question as to why our Parks Department has not done the same. No worries, dear readers, I will let our Parks Person herself tender an explanation.
So there have you.
Miss Heather
*Anyone care to place bets how long it will be in place?

Where The Sidewalk Ends
Filed under: 11211, 11222, Bloomblight, Greenpoint, Greenpoint Brooklyn, Greenpoint Magic, Williamsburg, Williamsburg Brooklyn
This is the impediment which faced the Mister and I as we endeavored to go to Kenny’s Trattoria last night (we crossed the street because the sidewalk along McCarren Park along Bedford Avenue was a mess). It is located where the Automobile High School ends and Parks Department property astensibly our open space begins. A cordon sanitaire or simple incompetence? I’ll leave you, dear readers, to make the call. All, I’m saying is I saw Parks employees spreading copious amounts of salt at the corner of Bedford Avenue and North 12 Street yesterday morning. Yup.
Miss Heather
P.S. and while I am on the subject:
Where’s the sidewalk? I ask because walking on Union Avenue is friggin’ scary.
There should be a sidewalk here.
You have no idea how grimly amusing I find our mayor facilitating over-development by fly-by-night developers such as the shit heap you see at left (there were buildings there once— I swear) and then is seemingly surprised when very people he has enabled to move into north Brooklyn (who will undoubtedly inhabit the edifice to the right) have the temerity to complain.

Strawbrryff (who took the above photograph on Bedford Avenue) writes:
yes that is a tow truck towing another tow truck
NICE.

Rounding today’s posts a wee bit early I leave you with this image of a very empty Bedford Avenue taken this afternoon. You can see this image in larger format along with a number of new photographs I took today by checking out my Blizzard 2010 photo set on Flickr. Enjoy!

New York Shitty Pay Phone Du Jour: Something Missing?
Anyone in advertising will tell you that the placement of your message is integral to reaching your “target audience”. If this is indeed the case the one man (?) army who has seen fit to saturate Bedford Avenue with the above anti-circumcision polemics got it right with this pay phone (which is located at the corner of North 7 Street). Judging by the aroma which emanates from this communication device it is clearly the ad hoc urinal of choice hereabouts.

P.S.: Nary a parking meter has missed this person’s attention.
