The sick ones were nowhere to be found, but here are their siblings.

Squinty’s sibling comes forth. Reluctantly.

People are leaving cans of food out for these kittens. What they need is TLC and a home. Anyone interested in adopting these kittens should contact me via email at missheather (at) thatgreenpointblog (dot) com. I’ll hook you up with the “owner” of these kittens.

P.S.: Tipper too, who closely supervised my photo-shoot of her step-siblings. Someone adopt her. Please.

LAST GASP: Meet The Coney Island Post-Impressionists

September 9, 2009 ·
Filed under: Brooklyn, Coney Island, Crazy Cat Lady

Today’s New York Shitty “Day Ender” has come to pass. But after stumbling upon the following Coney Island cuties via my friend’s Amusing The Zillion’s flickr page I simply had to post them. STAT.

torbiewithbootsMEMYSELFI

I have named this lovely lass “Madame Matisse” due to the lovely orange line down her nose.

suzannevaladon

Methinks I’ll keep the Post-Impressionism ball rolling with this cutie. Just like her sister and brothers she was born in the Luna Park Houses, and given her intense(ly cute) and pensive demeanor I name her Suzanne. As in Suzanne Valadon. Ms. Valadon clearly loved tri-colors. What’s not to love? It’s like getting three cats in one!

Gauguin

Gauguin doesn’t hail from Tahiti. She comes from Coney Island Brooklyn, USA!

Cezanne

I cannot ascertain if this one is female or male (I’m guessing the latter). In any case he (or she) doesn’t like the exposure, if you will. For this reason I have decided to name him (or her) Cezanne:

The world doesn’t understand me and I don’t understand the world, that’s why I’ve withdrawn from it.

seurat

Due to the numerous spots on this tabby’s belly I have named him (or her) Seurat. For obvious reasons.

Anyone interested in learning more about these Coney Island cuties should contact their stepmother at:

Thanks!

New York Shitty Day Ender: Cat Lover’s Delight

blackcat

Methinks I saw this fetching feline on North 3 Street. I forget. In any case it gives me an excuse to post the following videos of a couple of (not-so-bad) Bushwick boys I have written about recently: Avon and Stringsdale.

Anyone interested in giving these furkids a home should email their very human (co)stepmother at: shawnandkenny (at) earthlink (dot) net

P.S.: More incredibly cute pix and videos of dese goodfellas can be seen by checking out Lisacat’s Flickr page.

Adoptable Cutie Cavalcade!

I imagine if you’re reading this you’re not one of the fortunate many who are headed out of town for vacation this upcoming week— or you’re taking a vacation from your vacation. Either way I cannot think of a better way to while away this evening than to watch some very cute (and adoptable) kittens from none other than north Brooklyn!

wirekittensNYS

Meet The Wire Kittens. First up, the ladies in the cast:

RhondaNYS

Rhonda.

KimaNYS

Kima.

zenobiaNYS

Zenobia.

Here’s some footage of them in action.

Rhonda was shy around me when I paid her a visit— but she was not so coy with Tigger! As you will see in the following video.

Lisacat writes:

Rhonda, Kima and Zenobia were named after characters from the HBO series “The Wire” – see insets. I hope my next litter of bottle-babies are boys because there just aren’t that many prominent women on the show! These tricolor sisters were rescued as part of a TNR project in downtown Brooklyn and will be up for adoption soon.

Sure enough, this came to pass. Meet D’Angelo Barksdale

and Russell “Stringer” Bell.

These two boys hail from Bushwick. They were found at two days of age helpless and covered in flies. They have since been nursed back to health (hence the fat tummies— they just hit the bottle. Of milk, that is.)

And last— but hardly least— Greenpoint’s very own quintet of cute: “The Bountys”.

Toytime

Although I have written about these fetching felines before I had never had the pleasure of making their acquaintance until recently. I was not disappointed.

Bounty and Hunter

By far the real show stoppers in this crew are Hunter (as seen at left) and Bounty. Do not let Bounty’s diminutive stature fool you: dynamite comes in small packages.

Anyone interested in giving any of the wonderful kittens the life-long vacation of a loving home can contact their foster mom, Shawn at: shawnandkenny (at) earthlink (dot) net

Other details:

  1. All these kittens have been vaccinated, treated for parasites and test negative for F.I.V. and feline leukemia.
  2. Upon adoption they will be spayed or neutered before going to their new forever homes.
  3. Lastly, these kittens will be adopted out in pairs unless there is already another cat in the home. That way they will be less lonely (and likely to get into trouble) when you’re not home!

You can see more photographs and video footage of these kittens by clicking here and here.

THIS WEEK: Meet “The Bountys”

muddypawsNYS

This upcoming Saturday, August 15, starting at 1:00 p.m. Muddy Paws will be hosting an adoption event featuring some very special felines from none other that the Garden Spot of the Universe!

bountysNYS

The name for this adorable quintet of kitty cuteness is “The Bountys”. I’ll let their founder/stepmom, Orange Genius, tell you their story.

pipeNYS

The Bounty Hunter kittens were living in this big, long cast iron pipe in an industrial lot in Greenpoint. They were playing at the end when I spotted them while I was running. Since I have encountered most of the kittens I’ve rescued while running, it has been suggested to me that I take up running in a gym. On a treadmill. Nobody finds kittens on treadmills.

PiperNYS

That’s Piper, who got her name because she would NOT come out of the pipe, peering out her front door at me when I first saw these kittens. One of her brothers cavorts on the family roof.

foursomeNYS

Four of the five Bounty Hunter kittens that were living in a cast iron pipe in an industrial lot in Greenpoint. The lot is used by film crews and members of the crew of the upcoming move “The Bounty Hunter” helped me and Lisacat get the last two holdouts out of the pipe.

cassNYS

It’s hot in the room where I’m keeping them, and Casidy, named after the Aniston character in the movie, is all stretched out. She’s a very pretty torbie with a patch of orange on her head.

tummyNYS

Still dirty from the lot, Hunter experiments with a life of luxury….

2ozNYS

Milo, top, and Bounty, bottom, were only two ounces apart in weight. But two ounces is a lot when you only weigh a little over a pound.

If the previous photographs (which come courtesy of Orange Genius) are not enough to motivate you to swing by and say “Hi” to these Greenpointers with whiskers* I do not know what will. Too. Cute. For. Words.

*Or better yet: adopt one!

Hi Heather

I’m trying to find a home for 7 kittens from Coney a la The Gowanus Lounge’s “Adoptable Cutie of the Week.”

How could I possibly refuse to lend a hand? These bona fide Coney Island babies are the cutest damned things I have seen in a VERY long time! What’s more, can you blame them for going to Coney? They were probably hoping to catch a mermaid or two(‘s heart)!

If any of these fetching felines has caught yours— hook, line and tummy spots— you should contact Tricia at amusingthezillion (at) gmail (dot) com.
