From The New York Shitty Inbox, Part II: Confirmed!
A lady named Monika writes (in regards to this post):
Hi Miss Heather!
I pass that bodega every morning and it is finally open for business and yes, I asked if it was under the same ownership as Rachel’s, and the counter staff confirmed this was the case. I saw the owner of Rachel’s in the store earlier, when it was being stocked. Similar look, with the lovely baskets hanging from the ceiling, wooden shelving, and much produce and organic items, as well as European favorites including Milka, various Polish brands, and packaged sliced cheese from Germany. A small deli counter is still being set up; they hope to have this up and running in a week. No bodega cat yet, as far as I can tell!

From The New York Shitty Inbox: A Bodega Takeover?
This item comes courtesy of a lady named Erin. She writes:
Hi,
Just wanted to send in a tip that a Rachel’s Garden truck is parked out in front of the Manhattan Deli & Grocery store that has been closed for renovation for a few months. The inside looks like it has more gourmet and Polish grocery items than the previous incarnation. Wonder if Rachel’s is taking over the store?
Methinks this might merit a recon mission! In the interim if anyone has the 411 on what is going on please share via comments or email at missheather (at) thatgreenpointblog (dot) com. Thanks!

Greenpoint Photo Du Jour: Loren
I have a confession to make: both the Mister and myself were completely taken by surprise when we encountered this: a grand opening for the newest business to grace the Garden Spot, Loren. Here’s what I have found via the Interwebs about this establishment:
The options out there for denim are, to put it mildly, many. Endless cuts, colors, washes, selvages—the prospect of navigating it all is enough to keep you in your oldest pair forever. But at his new shop, LOREN, opening tomorrow in Greenpoint, LIPS jeans designer Loren Cronk has simplified the options and is offering them all at one denim-obsessed store. LOREN is the launching pad for Cronk’s three new brands—Soldier & Brave, Melody, and BLKSMTH—each of which comprises a limited number of styles, and together run the price gamut from cheap to expensive, the better to suit anyone and everyone…
Anyone out there have anything to add? If so please share via email at: missheather (at) thatgreenpointblog (dot) com or via comments. I’d love it hear it!
