Spotted At The Greenpoint Gazette: WTF?!?
I know July 4th is some ways off but I damned near shot coffee out of my nose when I saw this. I mean, who in their right mind would throw a child-centric event on the same block as a 3/4 house for recovering drug addicts and the infamous Greenpoint Hotel (which, when combined, house no less than six registered sex offenders— including a few whose crimes were against minors). Well it would appear somebody thought this was a sterling concept. I really, truly hope this is a mistake on the Gazette’s part.

Greenpoint Photos Du Jour: Huron Street
The festivities appear to be getting underway on Huron Street. My advice: check out the barbecue/buffet across the street in front of Headrush. They’re still setting up as of the writing of this post but as you can see it looks promising!

Anyone Up For A Block Party?
Although I suspect many of the people reading this tome are out of town or have sought an alternative venue to celebrate this nation’s birthday (because the fireworks are, once again, to be located on the Hudson River— thanks guys) some of you who care to keep your celebrating a bit more low key— and local— might be interested in this: tomorrow starting at 9:00 a.m. there will be a block party on Huron Street between Manhattan Avenue and Franklin Street. Check it out!

UPDATE, July 4, 2010 1:00 p.m.: Not much is going on right now but some folks are in the process of setting up a pretty phat barbecue/buffet across the street from the Corner Frenzy.
Spotted On Manhattan Avenue: I Want You
Chris of T & N Wine shows ’em how to market vodka in Brooklyn.
Or at least in Greenpoint, anyway. Ginger and apple infused vodka; stoop stories?!? Fuck that candy-ass crap. This is the real deal!
My advice to Mr. Lee and his “collaborators”: leave such matters to the professionals.
