Hi Miss Heather,

I thought you and your readers might like to know that there is going to be a cat and kitten adoption event this weekend at the NYC Pet on Bedford Avenue. It’s on Saturday August 14th from 11 to 5. The kitties were all found during recent Trap-Neuter-Return projects in Williamsburg and Bushwick. We have many wonderful cats looking for homes, including five polydactly kittens aka “Hemingway Cats”, as well as a lovely tabby gal named Brigette. I’ve attached the event flyer and a picture of Brigette (taken by Brooke Jacobs – here’s a link to an album of more adoptable kitties, we have lots!) Please help us spread the word and support local TNR!

Coming To Bedford Avenue: Duane Reade

The scaffolding is down at Bedford Avenue and North 3rd Street and oh, what a sight it is!

Of particular interest to yours truly was the promise of a Duane Reade…

which, it should be noted, will be located right across the street from a veritable Williamsburg institution: Kings Pharmacy. I was not the only person who questioned the wisdom of this business placement. A number of passersby took notice as well. Then again, it’s not like Bedford Avenue hasn’t borne witness to this kind of thing before.

THIS WEEK: Fundraiser for the McCarren Dog Run

macdogrunThis Saturday, November 21, NYCPet will be hosting an all-day event to benefit McCarren Park’s very own dog run. “Shopping For Dogs” is pretty self-explanatory: 10% of every purchase made on this day will be donated to the McCarren Dog Run to help fund their much-needed drainage project (at last word they still need about $5,000 more bucks to make this happen). In addition, there will be a drawing for prizes from such local businesses as:

  • Northside Veterinary Clinic
  • Holistic Select Products
  • Brooklyn General Barber
  • And much more!

Refreshments are also promised. If you patronize the McCarren Dog Run run— even occasionally— please swing by NYCPet this Saturday. You can also make a donation online via PayPal. It’s your dog run, Williamspointers!

These adorable fur kids were born on February 21st to a feral mother at Empty Cage’s facility. As you can see they’re happy, healthy and too damned precious for words!
