From The New York Shitty Inbox: The Perfect Nothing Catalog
A fellow named Frank writes:
I wanted to tell you guys about a new store opening in Greenpoint. It’s in an old shack in a garden on India Street.
The Perfect Nothing Catalog: a store & space for art & non-art by local artists and non-artists dealing summer supplies: knives, bathing suits, rocks and herbs, ceramics and surf and skate stuff. Set in an abandoned shack in a garden in Greenpoint, The Nothing will be hosting artists and non-artists in a series of micro-residencies throughout the summer. Offering small work space, garden access, and event opportunity.

There was a flurry of activity today at this, the much-anticipated site of some much-needed (and long overdue) green space in Greenpoint!
And to this end the proprietor of Beata Delicatessen donated a case of H2O of the wise variety to keep these ladies (and gentlemen) hydrated! You can track Design.Plot’s progress by checking out Domestic Construction’s blog.* You go, girls!
*Do give their tire-acquisition post a read. It’s GREAT!

From The New York Shitty Inbox: A Lot O’ Love
This item comes from the ladies behind this endeavor: Maureen and Trish of Domestic Construction. They write:
Hi Heather! We love reading your blog! We have a design studio in Greenpoint and live here as well. Upon moving our business into a new space, on India St., in May we discovered the empty lot next door. We fell instantly in love with the space and couldn’t help but think of the possibilities. We got word that the landlord was going to concrete the lot in and turn it into a parking lot, so we jumped in and signed the lease. We have now developed a Kickstarter campaign to transform the space into inspiring experiential community garden focused on sustainability, urban living, and art. We are working to spread the word! Here is a link to more details about the project http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1216881255/designplot?ref=live We love what you are doing and would love to find a way to work together on this!
We also wanted to invite you a benefit party we are having on the lot this Sunday. We have attached a flier for the event but here are all the details:Lot o’ LoveAugust 7th 3:30-9pm

It has long been a wish of mine that a community garden happen in the Garden Spot. Therefore I suppose it goes without saying that I am very excited about what Trish and Maureen are cooking up. Although I plan to meet with them in person and discuss how I can help them with this endeavor, in the meantime methinks I will make a donation to their Kickstarter page— and swing by this event. Those of you who share my enthusiasm should do so as well!
