I don’t know about you but the last thing I want to do on “Black Friday” is go to Manhattan. I would not go so far as to I am anti-social. I’m not. I like people. I just don’t like being around so damned many of them feverishly fighting over discounted goods. I get enough of that on the job. What’s more, there is no need to go to Manhattan when there are so many great places to buy gifts right here in Greenpoint. CASE IN POINT:

While you’re on Franklin be sure to pay a visit to the many wonderful businesses located there. To name a few: Tommy and Roy, my favorite Alter boys; Word Books, Pentatonic Music, Permanent Records and Kill Devil Hill. Be sure not to overlook Manhattan Avenue while you’re at it. Franklin Street does not great Greenpoint holiday shopping in its entirety make.

As it would happen I swung by Dalaga yesterday. They have a lot of lovely and affordable items in stock for him and her.
Except of course for the above black frock in a size small: I purchased the last one! Be advised they still have plenty of sizes still available in white. It’s a very cute dress and at $66.00 the price can’t be beat! Be sure to check out their BYBOE heart necklaces while you’re there as well.

I don’t know about you, but the one thing I really love about New York City on a holiday weekend is the peace and quiet: e.g.; the two percenters are out of town! What’s more, there’s no need to go to Manhattan to do your holiday shopping this weekend. There’s plenty of action here in north(ish) Brooklyn. Fuck chain stores! Here are a couple (more) places you can get your gift-giving on. And benefit small businesses to boot!
Miss Wit (the brains behind this shirt and bona fide Sunset Parker to boot) will be at large at the ‘Flea this Sunday. Or you can make her acquaintance the previous day in *sniff* Manhattan.
If it doesn’t involve riding the G train I am not interested. 99.44% of what’s worthwhile in life is the journey, not the destination. Anyone who has patronized the Crosstown Local as long (or longer) than I have will tell you this.
