From The New York Shitty Inbox, Part III: Wanted For Questioning
This comes from the 94th Precinct via an anonymous tipster:
The New York City Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance identifying the
following(above — Ed. Note) individual wanted for a robbery which took place on June 9, 2012 at approx 0130 hours inside of the Lorimer Street “L” train in the confines of the 94 Pct. The suspect approached a F/25 grabbed her by the throat and removed her pocketbook.
Anyone who witnessed or has information about this crime should contact the 94th Precinct at (718) 383 – 3879 or send Captain Komar (who is acting “Chief” while D.I. Hurson is on vacation) an email at STEFAN.KOMAR (at) NYPD (dot) ORG
Thanks!
P.S.: While I am on the subject of the 94th Precinct, I have created a flyer for this adorable dog who is currently in their (air-conditioned) custody.

Today’s rather brutal weather has provided yours truly an opportunity to peruse her “spam” for any/all items of interest to North Brooklynites. Exactly how the above missive ended up there I do not know. One would presume someone who operates a site called New York Shitty would have an open door for missives of this nature— but clearly my email nanny feels differently. Go figure. Nonetheless, here it is. Check it out!

Ordinarily I dislike posting press releases verbatim— but quite frankly this one is too good to pass up. Read on, gentle readers, and methinks you’ll understand why.

Permanent WaveTODAY: PERMANENT WAVE TO HOLD SECOND BENEFIT FOR IMPRISONED RUSSIAN PUNK BAND “PUSSY RIOT” AFTER ANNOUNCEMENT OF EXTENDED PRE-TRIAL DETAINMENT
(NEW YORK, NY) June 21st- Today, Permanent Wave will be holding a second benefit show for those imprisoned as alleged members of Russian punk band “Pussy Riot” at 8PM at 285 Kent Ave, Brooklyn, NY. The first show, on June 12th, packed the space at Death By Audio in Brooklyn. This show is taking place a day after yesterday’s announcement that Pussy Riot members Nadezhda Tolokonnikova, 23, Maria Alekhina, 24, and Yekaterina Samutsevich, 29, will remain in detention during further pre-trial investigation until July 24th (freepussyriot.org). Before a recent change in the prosecution team, the trial was set for June 24th. Admission will be offered on a sliding scale with a $7 minimum donation. The show will feature performances from all female-fronted acts: The Shondes (http://www.shondes.com/static/), Making Friendz (Tami Hart of MEN) (https://www.facebook.com/pages/Making-Friendz/153308008025567), Ritz Riot (http://ritzriot.bandcamp.com/), Bachslider (https://www.facebook.com/pages/Bachslider/220379011336945), and a DJ set from Maura Johnston (http://maura.com/). The show is all-ages.
From freepussyriot.org: “Three alleged members of the feminist punk band Pussy Riot, Maria Alekhina, Nadezhda Tolokonnikova and Ekaterina Samucevich, charged with ‘hooliganism’, have been remanded in jail, facing up to 7 years criminal punishment for allegedly participating in the punk-prayer Virgin Mary, Send Putin Away that publicly demonstrated for human rights and against the current oppressive regime under Putin. The case illustrates the gross level of violations against human rights in Russia and requires immediate attention. The detained activists now need the support of the world’s community.” Amnesty International have called for the women’s immediate release.
Permanent Wave (thepermanentwave.org) is a national network of feminist artists and activists. The group challenges gender inequality as it manifests itself in art, politics, and personal lives. Members believe that women should see each other as collaborators and inspirations, not rivals. The group exists as a continuation the feminist movement by creating a revolutionary arts movement that’s relevant to women, queer, and trans people today. Permanent Wave book benefits and other shows, host movie screenings, organize protests, and generate dialogue on feminist issues facing artists, musicians, and the public.
This show is the second of a series of “Pussy Riot” events orchestrated by Permanent Wave to take place across the nation this summer.
You can learn more about this event by perusing its Facebook page. Check it out!
