THIS WEEKEND: More Cat & Kitten Adoption Goodness!
Filed under: 11211, 11222, Crazy Cat Lady, East Williamsburg, East Williamsburg Brooklyn, Greenpoint, Greenpoint Brooklyn, Greenpoint Magic, Williamsburg, Williamsburg Brooklyn
Earlier today I shared with you the good news about Empty Cages Collective’s adoption event tomorrow at PS9. Well, there will be even more adoptable cutie goodness on Sunday at Williamspoint’s very own Muddy Paws.
As it would happen I know the folks who operate North Brooklyn Cats. Not only are they extremely dedicated, but they’re incredibly nice ladies to boot! Why not swing by and make the acquaintance of some of the finest felines to grace the Garden Spot of the Universe? Follows is a little footage of Avon (courtesy of Lisacat) to get you in the adoptable cutie spirit!

Amy (who forwarded me the above photographs) writes:
hi, i just came across this note while walking my own dog, gladys.notice how he or she spelled “filthy.”
gladys and are not responsible for the rogue shit (found on the corner of herbert and humboldt in greenpoint). it does appear as if gladys was trying to eat it though. she was. i do not condone this behavior.
Let this be a warning to you, rogue dog owners. This is the “new and improved” Greenpoint;we have standards!

A Gift From Rachael: Welcome To Williamsburg
Filed under: 11211, Advanced Life Forms, Urban Artifact, Williamsburg, Williamsburg Brooklyn
Last week I finally met up with my buddy Rachael. This does not happen very often as she is a bartender and such she keeps vampire hours. Nonetheless when we do get together she always has interesting stories to tell. This time was no exception. What’s more, she found something she thought I would find of interest. I did.
Something bearing a resemblance to Bigfoot (or would that be Sasquatch or a Yeti? NOTE: you can view this in larger format by clicking on the above image) getting ready to take a ride on the L train. I’m not terribly certain what this is supposed to mean but I do take issue with the choice of subway lines: we all know Bigfoot rides the G.

P.S.: Ever wondered what a unicorn would look like with a pair of woman’s breasts? Look no further. Rachael’s got you covered. Why?
TOMORROW: Cat & Kitten Adoption Event

This morning I awakened to discover that Chez Shitty has neither heat nor hot water. I was able to deduce the latter by the quantity of kitties cuddled up against me for warmth. I learned the latter via the Mister who made this discovery the hard way. Lucky him.
I mention this anecdote because cat ownership isn’t just about a lesson in humility and being a heat source: it is also about companionship. On that note, tomorrow November 7, 2009 starting at noon Empty Cages Collective will be having an cat and kitten adoption event at Williamsburg’s own PS9!
If you have been mulling over sharing your bed with a furry companion— or simply want to swing by, say hi and perhaps leave a donation— why not swing by PS9 tomorrow? They’ll be happy to see you!

Williamsburg Gentrification Watch: A North 7 Street PSA
The scaffolding has come down at North 7 Street and Bedford Avenue and with its removal comes this very special public service announcement.
Perhaps gentrification isn’t such a bad thing after all?*

*Or is it?

Anyone who has seen the building (if one call this Lebanonesque heap of rubble such a thing) will attest that one’s dietary predilections are the least of this location’s problems. I’d even go so far as to say this is one of the biggest eyesores in north Brooklyn. Given the competition, this is no small accomplishment.
