New York Shitty Slide Show Du Jour: Bushwick Selections

As promised here are some highlights from yesterday’s brief— but fun— photo walk with my buddy Carnade. Enjoy!

From The New York Shitty Photo Pool, Part II: Bushwick Bike Kids

Bushwick Bike kids

These kids were easily the high point of yesterday’s sojourn around East Williamsburg/Bushwick. Not only did they thoroughly enjoy hamming it up for Carnade’s camera, but they were very nice to boot!

Spotted On Leonard Street: Haab

Yesterday yours truly went on not one, but two walks. Why, you ask? Because I simply could not decide between going to Long Island City and knocking around one of my favorite streets: Grand. To this end I hustled out to Long Island City, looped back to Greenpoint for a quick restroom break and a glass of water and back out I went. It was at the intersection of Leonard Street and Grand Street that I spied with my Mexican food maven eye what you see above: Haab. Needless to say I entered this establishment without delay. I asked the very nice waitress and cook staff how long they have been open for business. The lattermost replied: “since Friday”. While the menu (which said waitress gave me— they do not have a take out menu— yet?) is hardly vegetarian friendly there are a few items to be had. And try them I will. If the staff I encountered today is in any way indicative of the quality of the food, methinks I am in for a real treat!

New York Shitty Slide Show Du Jour: Two Feet, Two Boroughs, Three Bridges & Four Hours

As I intimated yesterday I took a four hour photo walk with an occasional contributor to the New York Shitty photo pool and full-time Greenpointer: Noah Devereaux. He was the tour guide. Where he went, I followed. Chattering a great deal of the way. The following should give you some idea of our route.

We started at Greenpoint and Manhattan Avenue at 6:00 p.m. and, almost four hours later, ended up back there. The following slide show (including the lovely, if surreal, shots of the ecological wonder that is English Kills— which grace the beginning of this post) features everything in between. Enjoy!

As always you can (and should) view these images in large format by clicking here.

East Williamsburg Street Art Du Jour: Green Door

Granted, I have featured this piece before (it was submitted by a reader named Todd). However, I finally I got to see this piece in person. I advise each and everyone of you to head over to the intersection of Waterbury and Meserole Street and see it for yourself. What struck me is how small and intricate this piece is. It is truly lovely. Anyone out there know anything about the artist? If so, please share via comments!
