Greenpoint Photos Du Jour: If At First You Do Not Succeed…
If what I saw while walking by this dreary afternoon is any indication, it would appear the epic piece of Bloomblight at 55 Eckford Street will be with us for the foreseeable future…

They had already filled a couple container/dumpsters before someone stepped in.
For those of you who are not in the know, 17 Monitor Street happens to be the old St. Cecilia’s School. A plan has been submitted— but disapproved— to convert this facility into residences. This has been some source of controversy in the community.
When I walked by today nary a Stop Work Order was to be found. Perhaps they got their proverbial ducks in a row? In any case, it is going to be interesting to watch this one unfold…

So today I spent (and continue to spend) cleaning Chez Shitty. We party hard here, I can assure you. In any case earlier this evening I popped out to get a few things. Let’s just say I, clad in flip flops, dirty jeans and a hoodie, felt like a real schlump when I beheld this lady’s get-up.
I inquired as to her head gear. This she made herself. It was so lovely, especially when paired with the scarf (which I have seen for sale at the Polonia Bookstore), I asked her if I could take a photo. As you can see, she gladly obliged. Methinks I’ll have to dust off some fake flowers, my hot glue gun and make my own. In the meantime: Bravo!

Hunts Point Children’s Shakespeare Ensemble, spend all year preparing one play. This year it is Romeo & Juliet.
The kids start in fourth grade and carry on till sixth. Older students, who complete the program, then write and perform their own plays with The Storefront Ensemble.
The program is run by Hunts Point Alliance for Children (HPAC) and The Shakespeare Society.
For many of the children this is the first time they are respected enough to be challenged. Most local middle schools don’t have the resources to offer such extra curricular activities.
For tickets, donations, and just to find out more about The Hunts Point Children’s Shakespeare Ensemble visits HPAC or Shakespeare Society.
