P.S.: Props go out to Ann Kansfield of the Greenpoint Reformed Church for bringing this gem to my attention.  I have word that 311 has been called about this, lest you are wondering.

  6. I was so upset about the change from the all caps style street sign to the horrible looking lowercase type sign that I didn’t even notice the “Av.”

There was a film/tv show shooting this morning, perhaps the signage change was because of their shoot?

  8. Hmm… Now that is an interesting hypothesis! I checked and it would appear ALL the signs have been replaced. Heh. You know how the saying goes: if ain’t broke, don’t fix it. Or in this (the DOT’s) case: if it works, break it.

  10. Bigger question I have is when did Kent Street, or Kent Avenue, ever cross with Union Avenue?

  12. A number of parts of what we now know as Manhattan Avenue had other monikers. I’ll try to knock out a post about this!
