Found On West Street: A Very Unique Gift Idea

This afternoon en route to our newest piece of public space I swung by Poo Corner to see how things are shaking. Aside from the above bag of poo I am pleased to report no new turdage! However, I did find something of a curious, if non-crap related— nature. Three feet away from the above-depicted “present” I found another plastic bag. Intrigued (and against my better judgement), I opened it see what was inside.
To discover a “gift-wrapped” coconut. Thoughts/insight, anyone?

Ah. Saw the coconut yesterday. Shoved it with my toe. My friend said: that coconut has a bow on it. I almost photographed it.
It could be a Santeria offering, a rather popular belief system in these parts. Each of the deities have their own colors and the priests use coconut shells to divine one’s fate. Sometimes after a ceremony, the person in question is supposed to take a blessed object and put it somewhere out of the way where it won’t be found (often in the woods, but hey, it’s Brooklyn).
Then again, it might just be an unwanted gift-wrapped coconut.
