If any of you are wondering exactly what happened on Franklin between Oak and Calyer Street, I have the answer! Apparently water leaked into an underground power line and Con Ed’s emergency crew are busy replacing it. Those of you who are thinking about driving or biking through this area (Franklin from Greenpoint Avenue to Calyer) should be extra careful, as visibility can be very limited —or better yet, take an alternative route like Lorimer or Guernsey.

  2. Yup, my lights were dimming and blinking all morning. I had FDNY come to my house to check for an electrical fire in the basement as well. My guess is this was caused by the rain water backing up which the city says there is no problem with! HAHA JUST IGNORE THE FDNY AND CONED TRUCKS! THERE’S NO PROBLEM HERE FOLKS!

  4. for what it’s worth, this morning at 9am there were six fire trucks and assorted fire fighters going in and out of apartment buildings due to high levels of carbon monoxide. there was also a fire in one of the manholes, but that’s not unusual for franklin st.. around 9 they said it was okay to go back in.

    sigh.

  6. My power was blinking this morning which wasn’t cool considering I selected today to work from home and I had trouble staying connected to the company remote network as my router was going on and off. Glad to see those trucks though so I knew it was being worked on.
