Laid Off Nursing Home Cat Needs A Home!

Stuff like this (which I spotted on Bedford Avenue this afternoon) absolutely breaks my heart. If any of you, dear readers, are in search of a loving companion of the feline persuasion— or know someone who is— please consider this lovely lady. “Mommy” deserves better than this. Thanks!

UPDATE, March 18, 2011: Mommy has a new home upstate! Read the comments for the scoop!

  2. The new management is ignorant. Pets really help people in homes like this. So not only does this poor cat need a new home, the residents will be worse off for the lack of fuzzy companionship. Shitty all around. 🙁

  4. One thing I would absolutely LOVE to do is facilitate some partnership between local rescue orgs and senior citizens’ residences for play dates with furkids. Everyone wins!

In the case of “Mommy”, I sincerely hope she finds a home. Simply dumping her into a shelter like so much trash is revolting. I mean, if that’s how the new management treats animals how are they going to treat the humans under their care? Just a thought.

  6. Hey everyone,

Im the person who posted this flyer and I’m happy to report that we found Mommy a great home upstate! I’m sad for the nursing home residents who will no doubt miss their therapy cat. But, we can all breathe a sigh of relief that Mommy is in good hands and will have the lay of a big house with a friendly family. Thank you all for caring about her. XO!
