Memorial Day BBQ At Papasitos
As I wrote in this post today the newest addition to the Greenpoint dining scene, Papasito’s, threw a Memorial Day Barbecue. If what I saw late this afternoon was any indication, it may very well be a hit! I didn’t have to time to check out their foodstuffs (was too tired after playing baseball with a four year old base/heart stealer supreme) but I did take a few photographs which you can see here.
All in all, everyone appeared to be having a great time and it was a very mixed crowd. Now if you don’t mind, I am going to soak my sore feet!
Miss Heather
UPDATE: Per a tipster the food was plentiful, good and crazy cheap. A mere $5.00 a plate.

yes, but if they don’t serve Pad Thai, there are zoning laws
A new place to eat? Yes! Where is Papasitos located? I ate at Habitat and food was really good there too.
It is located directly behind the Corner Frenzy/laundromat on Manhattan Avenue at Huron Street.
Thanks Miss Heather! Totally love and addicted to your blog.
I was wondering if this stablishment has any kind of permits to operate e.g. Liquor licenseor or food stablishment permit. Should I inquire with city agencies?
Thank you and keep up the good work Miss Heather.
You bring up a very salient point. I will do a little poking around this week. Today I am recovering from having my mother up to visit!
Greenpoint native: I have done a little investigating. What I have found is puzzling, to say the least.
what do you mean by “very mixed crowd”? From the picture i’d say there is just a bunch of gringos there…
Miss Heather: I’d be really interested as to what you found. I live directly across from the spot and will have to run my AC during every single hour that they’re open, as my windows channel the braying of the drunks til 4am. I can hear conversations word for word, when they’re lucid. Last night at 3:45 it was Japanese drunks caterwauling to an acoustic guitar. Fill me in if you get the chance.
Among other things there is no C of O on file for this property. So if someone wanted to question the legality of the open space where they serve food, it is probably fair game.

The C of O not only dictates what the space can be legally used for (e.g., residential vs. commercial, etc.), but it also dictates how many people can occupy it it. Someone has already filed a complaint along the lines of the former May 28.

If (or when) the inspectors start poking around, this could get them in trouble.
