My father was a die hard, WWII Army Veteran who used to go to all of these war memorials in Greenpoint and help clean them up. I know he would have been saddened to see how little respect current Parks staff have for the momuments. In the past, Parks Dept or Partnership for Parks staff would actually reach out to local military related organizations for help, if needed. They obviously aren’t doing that lately. Local Parks staff have a higher agenda to sell beer and make money. You can’t sell enough beer at one of those small Greenstreet memorials can you?
