CLOSING FOR RENOVATIONS: Manhattan Triple Decker

The Mister and I discovered this today when we went for a little lunch at Manhattan Avenue’s very own Triple Decker Restaurant: they will be closed starting tomorrow, August 2, for renovations but promise to be back with “a new look & outlook”. Exactly what this means, I do not know. I guess we’ll have to wait and see.

Manhattan Triple Decker
Closed For Renovations August 2, 2010 – August 23, 2010 (estimated)
695 Manhattan Avenue
Brooklyn, New York 11222

In the meantime those who are looking for a good diner will be pretty hard pressed to find one. Though Acapulco Deli & Restaurant is pretty good (TIP: try their salsa) but they usually close for two weeks in August. I have also heard good things about the burgers at New Tulcingo. If anyone reading this has some recommendations for decent diner fare located in and around the Garden Spot please share them via comments or email at: missheather (at) thatgreenpointblog (dot) com. Thanks!

  2. There’s a decent diner-ish place that’s literally catty-corner to Manhattan Triple Decker. I think it’s called Lite Bites, but I’m not sure. It’s on the northeastern corner of Manhattan and Norman, and it looks like a bodega/deli from the outside. But it’s actually a sit-down place with wait service and a full menu. I’ve had some of the burgers, eggs and sandwiches and everything has been good.

Also, I think I misspelled cattycorner. Sincerest apologies.

  4. Kellogg’s diner, though in Williamsburg, is fairly decent.

  6. Methinks I’ll finally get around to trying Sunset Diner on Meeker Avenue.
