P.S.: On a related note, does anyone have the 411 about the petition (as seen in the foreground of the above photograph) that a “tavern” serving light fare should be allowed at 200 Franklin Street (AKA: Karl’s latest piece of krap)? My curiousity is seriously piqued.

I wish I’d been able to get there before they closed for good. I’m sorry to see this place go, I loved their cozy booths.
i sadly ate my last brunch there yesterday and was greeted with the petition pictured. i was told the owners of gpch are opening a bar at 200 franklin that will most likely be serving “some light food.” the petition was to show the support of the community in that venture. i didn’t get a specific timetable, but it sounded like summer 2010 is when they hope to open.
wow if that is the case, then the Greenpoint Coffeehouse’s new digs will be a hop skip and a jump from me. i’m sure us astral denizens might enjoy having 2 coffeehouses in such close proximity (brooklyn label and greenpoint coffeehouse). though i have a hard time picturing it in that karl fisher structure.
