‘Tis The Season: Humboldt Street
Even I have to admit this is pretty cute.
But it simply does not have the same je ne sais quoi their Halloween display had. They should bring back the guy throwing up blood.

That halloween display is remarkable. The house doesn’t even seem big enough to store all of that stuff! And I agree, the gingerbread house effect is cute.
I think they should make that dude hurling up blood a year-round fixture, personally.
It’s a good thing that domicile seems to be covered by decorations most of the year–judging by what’s visible of the renovation in the Xmas photo, this would surely make it onto your cousin website, “Queens Crap.”
Rexlic: I agree. That said, there has to be something redeemable about a homeowner who created the most whack Halloween display I have ever seen. Besides, when compared to its neighbor across the street, this modest two-story house is downright charming.
Yeah, who knew there were doric columns underneath but I suppose after packing away all those Halloween decorations, Christmas is aproached in a more minimalist fashion. I like how it’s homemade (is it? looks like painted plywood?) it’s also sort of White Stripes-ish, like they should shoot the cover of a christmas 45 standing in front of that house…
Yeah, Miss H., I agree with both you and Lisanne on the subject. Just that the good folks at “Queens Crap” have me particularly attuned to that renovated look, and, of course, the obligatory paved-over front yard. We got a few of these over here in LIC.
What I just noticed was the old-fashioned TV antenna up there just feet away from the satellite dish.
I choose my battles, Rexlic. While hardly fond of the paved-over look myself, at least they didn’t add a third story— or sell to some developer who would erect a 4+ story edifice with over-sized balconies overlooking a paved-over front yard. Yes, things can always be worse— and I saw a whole lotta “worse” today when I went for a walk.
Naturally, you can expect to see some of these turds here on NYS in the immediate future.
