Vito Lopez Has Won…

FLYMONKIESFLY …or would that be Steve Levin? Vito’s monkeys were in effect yesterday evening in Greenpoint. At the subway exit on India Street, immediately outside Mary D’s Senior Center at 80 Dupont Street. When the Mister reminded them of the 100 foot rule they were defiant and obnoxious— but moved. They took to canvassing the local liquor stores instead. Fly monkeys, fly!

The carpetbagger from Bushwick seems to have won the nomination for the Democratic ticket for the City Council seat for the 33rd District.  Lucky us. Vito has been screwing Greenpoint and Williamsburg for years; perhaps now Levin will kiss us first? I doubt it.

  2. Politics over progress. I guess you can’t beat the machine.

  4. It’s really frustrating how major news outlets fail to show voting results (I finally found it on GG’s site: http://www.gothamgazette.com/article/campaigns/20090915/211/3026 ) but I give the New York Times a capital FAIL on this one, unless of course you live in the newpaper’s only real borough of Manhattan.

  6. No kidding. It took me awhile to find them.

The real shocker (in my opinion) is that Liu didn’t walk away with the Comptroller nomination. This, of course, means there will be a run-off with my good friend David Yassky. *shudder*

  8. For future reference, NY1 had very good, up-to-the-minute election returns.

(There I go, revealing my sources…)

  10. I can’t believe Levin won, he looks 17 years old. It’s good to know the old democratic machine still works.

Also Yassky might be better than Liu. I worlk in Flushing, and I’ve heard a rumor that allegedly the only chinese grocery that didn’t donate to his city council campaigns recieved multiple visits from the Dept of Health until they did.

    Yay politicians!
