New York Shitty Day Ender: 671

Today a young woman with a most curious tattoo came to the junk shop.

671

As you can see it is the borough of Brooklyn*, rendered in argyle, and includes a number. Anyone care to guess what it means? She told me and I will give the reveal tomorrow at noon. It’s really neat!

Miss Heather

*I really like how they placed Bushwick Inlet where she has a mole. Very clever!

  4. In the year 671, according to the great Wikipedia, The Anglo-Saxon Chronicle reports “This year happened that great destruction among the fowls.” And there’s a poultry slaughterhouse on Greenpoint Ave. I just don’t see how this can’t be the answer!

  6. Hint: it has nothing to do with Greenpoint.

  10. Inspired guess— but no. Look at what is in front of you: the borough of Brooklyn, a number (Another hint: its placement is relevant) and the use of argyle.

  12. Call me biased to the old neighborhood, but I’m seeing Flatbush all over this. The tattoo means:
    a) 67th Precinct is #1!
    b) a tribute to 671 Argyle Rd. (between Foster and Glenwood)
    c) 6+7+1 =14, uniform number of Gil Hodges, legendary Brooklyn Dodger and resident of Holy Cross Cemetery

    Awright, what do I win?

  14. One of your choices is, in fact, correct! (for the most part— enough for me, anyway).

As for what you’ll win (if you get it right) I’ll have to figure that out! šŸ˜‰

  16. I vote for b. I hope I don’t fail my own multiple choice quiz.
