A Greenpoint Blind Item: What’s Up At 85 Driggs Avenue?

piethumbnailA number of you who reside around McGolrick Park have probably noticed that business has not been as usual (if “usual” it ever was— it’s always been closed when I have walked by) down at Cup of Joes. This is because it isn’t: the space has been sublet to a new business.  More specifically one operated by a very talented baker, fellow Greenpointer and all-around very nice person (whose sumptuous product can be seen at left).

Anyone care to guess who it is?

The more impatient among you can get the reveal by clicking here. Or better yet— why not head down to 85 Driggs Avenue and see for yourself. Trust me: TASTING IS TRULY BELIEVING!

  4. I’m so excited! I walk by this place on my way home every day and I’m always sad that it is closed. Yesterday though I saw it open!

    By the way, Miss Heather, I think you should start a Greenpoint walking tour! As someone relatively new to the neighborhood, I would love to see your version of it.

  6. i’m so glad there’s something new there. i’m gonna check it out when i can. i live right around there. but i don’t usually walk by it. i don’t even care if i like it, i found cup o’ joe’s really upsettling. they had terrible terrible coffee, in addition to the strangest business hours in the immediate area. it seemed like such a waste.

    when i moved here there was a tattoo parlor there. at the time i didn’t think that was so weird, but now it seems like a pretty weird place for a tattoo parlor. though i guess no stranger than porcupine tattoo (which i only hear great things about) which is in the ‘business lofts’ on norman.

  8. I went by there this afternoon (shortly before 5)— they were nearly sold out of pastries (so I had to settle for a pumpernickel bagel which was QUITE tasty). The chap behind the counter told be that today was their busiest day ever. My advice: be sure to show up earlier than I did!

  13. Hey, al oof, we have settled on these hours for the immediate future:

    M-F 7 -7 (closing Tuesdays at 2 so we can do the shopping);
    Sat/Sun 9-8.

    We’d love to expand the hours at some point; for now you can count on us to be there during the hours listed above.

    Thanks!
