Since when is Greenpoint “the safest neighborhood in New York”? Isn’t this a few blocks away from Club Exit? 4! minutes. not 5 to the midtown tunnel. If it was 5 I’d have to reconsider. very high ceilings – no shit. it’s a CHURCH.

I’ll take it, but only if I get to fedderize it.

Don’t believe that our very own St. Elias has been banished to the real estate limbo that is Craigslist? Click on the above screencap or go to craigslist and see for yourself. Sorry scenesters, no dance clubs allowed.

Miss Heather

P.S.: Only $400,000? Where do I sign?

  2. I live sort of across the street from this church…it was supposed to be turned into condos or apartments a couple of months ago (I think I remember a community board meeting about the construction that I couldn’t attend for some reason).

I’m glad it won’t be a dance club, but I’m still frightened over a long period of construction.

  4. There have been two attempts at converting this building into condos. Obviously both have failed. With the economy being the way it is methinks this broker has his work cut out for him. It’s a shame, really: this is an incredibly beautiful building.

  6. Just wanted to point out that commercial net leases are usually listed as an annual rent – which means that maybe we could both upgrade for a mere $33,333 a month. a ha ha haaaaaaa.

  8. I SMELL AN APARTMENT SHARE SCHEME COMING OUT OF THIS, deda! Methinks I’ll call it “McKibben Street Dorms North”!

  10. Perhaps not “the safest,” but Greenpoint certainly is statistically one of the lowest-crime neighborhoods in the city. A couple of incidents over the period of a year outside of Club Exit don’t change the fact that the 94th precinct is always has among the lowest reported incidents of violent crime.

Actually, if anything is going to change that, it’s the recent spate of muggings, purse snatchings, and the like being reported primarily in the vicinity of McCarren and McGolrick Parks and the area of the precinct that lays below that.

Also worth pointing out: judging by the email address on the Craigslist ad, it’s being offered by Hirsch Enterprises… which makes one wonder whether the original plan was to create something like this:
    http://www.hwhirschent.com/media5.html

That site seems to have been created just to focus on that particular building. The main Hirsch site is here: http://www.hirschenterprises.com/

  12. I saw a man representing Hirsch give a presentation to CB 1 about converting this property last summer:

35-38 units?!? At what? 200 square feet each?!?

    Ridiculous.
