Coming To Greenpoint: Turks & Frogs?!?
At long last something is happening at 916 Manhattan Avenue.
It would appear we’re slated to get a wine bar and/or Turkish restaurant. I for one hope it is the latter. This neighborhood needs a little more variety when it comes to vittles* if you know what I mean.

I’ll just add my 2 cents and say no more Thai, Chinese or Japanese. I would love to see an Indian restaurant in GP, or maybe a better Mexican place. But a Middle Eastern/Turkish place would be ok by me also.
A Korean place with Koreans in the kitchen?
I second you on the Indian food. Have you ever checked out De Mole over in Sunnyside, Superclam ? It’s only 10 minute (if that) bus ride on the B48 and it is quite delicious. Cheap too.
my man dan at stray in sunnyside turned me on to de mole. i ate it in the back of the van before we even got to the studio. excellent.
So this is what McGinn’s sold out to? Im shaking my head.
I get what you’re saying, MJK012579. This establishment strikes me as being a little to “ritzy” for this neighborhood— especially now that the economy is bad. At least it isn’t another bank or Thai restaurant.
Indian or Turkish or any combination of Middle Eastern would be lovely. and i do believe that the B48 does not go into Sunnyside – but your friendly B24 bus will. so here’s hoping Turks and Frogs will see the light.
You’re right Rowan: it’s the B24. Clearly I saw fit to exaggerate a little. Times 2 to be precise.
Nonetheless De Mole rocks! Especially their hibiscus water, spinach enchiladas and coconut flan. Their sangria (which I suspect might have a little rum in it) doesn’t suck either!
i must give De Mole a try some day. Things that have rum added to them are always good.
forget another restaurant…. why not a fish market? i’ve been waiting for 9 years!
