This item hails from a tree pit on Java Street and was captured by a very nice fellow named Paul (who also happens to author the blog Daily Oliver). He writes:
Looks like the tree I found this next to might be pregnant!
In closing (and to borrow/adapt commentary from a friend of this fellow):
This brings a whole new meaning to the term “tree hugger”.
Cheers— or would that be congratulations— and thanks again Paul for letting me share this fascinating urban artifact!

The Word On The Street, Part III: Flushing Avenue
This is one of many such missives I encountered this afternoon on Flushing Avenue between Union and Nostrand Avenue. Anyone out there conversant in Hebrew? If so, please share. I’m intrigued.

It would appear yours truly netted a write-in vote for City Council, 33rd District. What else can I say other than I am touched by the endorsement (or at least the protest vote)! Now if you do not mind, gentle readers, I am off to knock out my acceptance speech…
UPDATE, November 7, 2013: It would appear I have received three votes for City Council, two for Mayor (!) and one for Brooklyn Borough President. Wow.
