Sure enough, this piece by Paul Richard piece was painted over— but is the following (as spied by yours truly today, October 8th, 2013) an improvement?
Would someone please think of the tourists And oh yeah:
WELCOME TO GREENPOINT!
Spotted At Java Street Pop-Up Park
As captured today, October 8th, 2013. Can someone please explain to me exactly what happened here? Anyone? In any case, it does not exactly give a stellar impression of my community to the manifold number of tourists who patronize the East River Ferry (whose pier can be seen in the background).

…So residents of Greenpoint and Williamsburg, do you want Cheerios (real affordable housing at income levels that residents that are so desperate for a affordable home can afford) or Honey Smacks that the non-binding agreements by the Bloomberg administration and the City Council created. If you look at the tower plan from the 77 Commercial Street Environmental Assessment Statement, it lays out affordable housing which is out of reach to most residents and yet it’s heavily subsidized…
Subsidized = our tax dollars are paying for affordable housing that is not, in fact, affordable. Those of you who want to read a concise, easy to follow breakdown as to why affordable housing as put forth by Two Trees and Clipper Equities (77 Commercials Street) is little more than smoke and mirrors— among many other things— please do give this tome a read. It is time well spent.
Consumer Product Du Jour
Yesterday the Mister and myself sojourned down Steinway Street. We needed a change of pace. It was at a rather amazing restaurant/deli, Beirut Restaurant, that I happened upon this product. Fits of laughter followed. I quickly advised the Mister I had a new nickname for him. I think I need not go any further other than to say he did not find this nearly as entertaining as I did. In any case, do check out Beirut Restaurant out!

Reverend Merz writes:
Hi Heather,Was wondering if you can post this event this week. We are having our Animal Blessing and Remembrance of those that have died this next weekend, Sunday October 13th at 3pm.It is short, like 20 minutes and all the animals are in the Church. My “favorite part” is that we remember those that have died which to my mind is hugely important. There are few public places where we can come together and acknowledge the tremendous impact, love shared and grief when we experience when we lose our animal friends.
Thanks a million (bring one or all of your Kitty’s down)
Yours, John
Gladly passed along! I have swung by this event in years past— it is wonderful! As for bringing all of Chez Shitty’s cats to be blessed: Mr. Merz better be careful of what he wishes for. Check it out!
