An anonymous tipster writes:

a violation was issued by DOB on 04/09/12.

And so the plot thickens…

UPDATE, 6:35 p.m.: I have been asked an interesting question by a reader. A person we’ll call ‘S” writes:

The complaint status says ‘resolved’. Does that just mean that a violation was issued?

Here’s the 411 from a person in the know:

Resolution of DOB complaints is either no action or a violation. They wrote a violation in 09 for occupancy contrary to CO (which has an unpaid 25K penalty). This is just a repeat violation for not curing the first one. Nothing will come of it as far as vacating the premises. Owner probably just ignores it. Looks like this owner is well seasoned in shady dealings: http://therealdeal.com/blog/2011/07/12/israel-perlmuter-known-as-sam-perl-and-menachem-stark-face-51m-in-property-suits-over-williamsburg-and-greenpoint-developments/

So there have you.

This find comes courtesy of a chap named Andrew. He writes:

This made me LoL

Given the location in question is a trucker bomb’s toss from our local waste water treatment plant (the source of what we Greenpointers call “creek reek”), I’d say this typographical error is quite serendipitous. Great catch, Andrew!

MARK YOUR CALENDARS: Citizens Committee Earth Day Press Conference

There are a number of events this upcoming Earth Day weekend. I will endeavor to list a few on this site. However, this one (which comes courtesy of a fabulous fellow named Willie) strikes a special chord with yours truly. Let’s compost some crap, North Brooklynites! God only knows we have enough of the stuff…

Astrid and Eileen: Hunts Point Bronx

Chris Arnade (who took the above photograph) writes:

Astrid and Eileen were walking home with their parents, coming from a church party, when they stopped at the corner. Their father is from Guatemala, their mother from Honduras. The parents spoke little English but were very happy to have their two daughters’ picture taken. At the same corner three young prostitutes were actively looking for Johns.

The prostitution in Hunts Point is not confined to some dark corner, or some industrial region. It takes place on some of the busiest residential streets. The pimps and girls walk up and down the main streets, from sunset till sunrise. If you spend anytime in the neighborhood, or like Astrid and Eileen you live there, prostitutes, pimps, addicts, drug dealers and police are a constant presence.
