New York Shitty Day Ender: Tired

This scene hails from outside Acapulco Deli & Restaurant— one of my favorite places. Otherwise I suspect you, dear readers, have noticed the new “lay-out”. I hate it and it will be temporary. It would appear the theme I was using (Atahualpa) was providing a nice little back door for someone to do his nefarious work (READ: redirecting my site to a host of others he owns). Only time will tell. In the meantime current/would-be bloggers beware!

From The New York Shitty Inbox: A Suicide At McGolrick Park?
Anonymous writes (in an email entitled “Rumors”):
Heard thru the grapevine that there was a suicide by hanging in mcgolrick dog run last night. Police tape wrapped around the area early this morning. Have you heard anything?
The truth is I haven’t. However, I asked Deputy Inspector Hurson about it and, true to form, he got right back to me right away (thanks)! He confirmed that a man (who is presumed— but not confirmed to be homeless) did commit suicide in the area. His identity has yet to be ascertained. Inasmuch as the McCarren Park homeless have received much press attention of late, the homeless who call McGolrick their home have gone virtually unnoticed. Something to think about, folks…
UPDATE, September 26, 2011: An eyewitness has stepped forward. Jared writes:
I got to the scene of this before the firemen and police did. A man had already called 911 and we waited for the police to arrive. The man was already dead. It was a hanging, twine wrapped around the fence on the dog run and he was on the ground between the bench and the fence. He certainly seemed homeless with lots of bags on the bench. If anyone has information about this man, please post it. It was a tragic scene and I am at least glad that only a few people had to witness it.
Spotted At Coco 68: Signs of Activity
Although nary a liquor license hearing notice was to be found on the premises— if what I saw while walking by this afternoon is any indication, Coco 68 is indeed making preparations to re-open.

From The New York Shitty Inbox: Help!
Heya Miss Heather,
I was hoping you could reach out to the community of cat lovers, as there is a family of kittens that I found (not my colony) and older cats that need trapping.
I don’t live in the area anymore, but come back every other day to feed the Green street cats and now the kittens, which are on West between Green and Huron. I’ve posted signs for help from the west st residents but have had only 1 response. It’s very disheartening.
I am not trained in TNR (trap, neuter and release) and don’t own a vehicle so I am looking for someone who does. I will help in any way, money or otherwise. The situation is serious. Everytime I come to feed the cats, I see a new kitten. There are about 12 now.
Again the cats are on West street between Green and Huron, behind a blue construction wall.
