It would appear the feral colony at the end of India Street has a few new additions!

From The New York Shitty Inbox, Part III: What’s That Smell?
Filed under: 11211, 11222, Culture War, Greenpoint, Greenpoint Brooklyn, Greenpoint Magic, Williamsburg, Williamsburg Brooklyn
This vision (which hails from the Vincent Abate Playground) comes courtesy of a chap we’ll call G. He writes (in an email entitled “Polish Drinking Garden”):
Somehow, the PDG has migrated to the McCarren park playground right behind the kids swings. Delightful.
There are three in this photo. To quote the kids: Why do the swings smell like throw-up?
And that’s my daughter in the photo so you have my permission to run it.
Nice. Really nice.
UPDATE, 6:38 p.m.: Here’s another view courtesy of another angry playground patron!
And of course, there’s this.
The woman who took the above photograph opines:
This lovely pile of feces has been sitting on the playground next to the equipment for at least 2 days. No one has cleaned it up, I wonder how many of our kids have been exposed to Hepatitis just today. And year after year we can not figure out how to lock the playground at night. So Sad!
UPDATE, 7:55 p.m.: (Yet another) park-goer has taken notice of the situation and has news to relay!
One of them rolled over, confirming that he is alive.
I suppose if there is bird-watching and train-spotting, why not have a CPI (Chronic Public Inebriate) safari as well? Like most emerging hot trends it is clearly the rage at McCarren Park!

From The New York Shitty Inbox, Part II: Live From 400 McGuinness Boulevard
After seemingly being dormant for a few weeks 400 McGuinness, the site of a proposed 200 bed assessment center for single homeless men, is abuzz with activity! As you can see there is not a dumpster on the premises so the sidewalk has been pressed into service. My tipster was rather displeased by this and has vowed to file a 311 complaint. Note: the gentle removal of fiber glass insulation in the last image.

From The New York Shitty Inbox: 1st Annual Greenpoint Film Festival
This weekend I was approached by a chap named Matt. He wished to use a photograph of mine as the basis for an advertisement slated to grace the next issue of Williamsburg Greenpoint News + Arts. As you can see from the above image, I happily obliged him. In any case, this turn of events is as good a reason as any to announce we Greenpointers are in for something pretty nifty this upcoming October…

Coming (Back) To Greenpoint: Blue Bloods
That’s right folks: after The Kensington Prospect (from whose blog I grabbed the image at left) broke the good news that Blue Bloods were looking for “working class neighborhood types” for a film shoot coming to pass in their neighborhood August 12 (lucky devils!) I have learned they will be returning to Greenpoint this upcoming Friday, August 19th. Hipsters, Hispanics, elderly women (and men); men with long hair and tattoos; and of course “Polish types” take note. This is your opportunity to be famous! Or at least “working class”.
On Friday August 19th, 2010 a Television Show Production of “Blue Bloods” will be shooting interior/exterior scenes at Leonard Street @ Nassau Avenue.*
APPROXIMATE TIME: 10am – 5pm
New York Shitty analysis: I suppose it is only fitting that an entity endeavoring to find “working class types” would elect to shoot in a working class neighborhood. Why buy the cow when you can get the milk stereotypes for free?
Now if you don’t mind I am off to procure some Zywiec and polish my scimitar…

*Which, it should be noted, is along a bus route. Brilliant move, Mayor’s Office of Film, Theatre and Broadcasting!
